Message of gratitude from
Stingrays Meet Manager Steve Ridenour:
I just want to express my gratitude to everyone who
volunteered their time to make the NAIG swimming competition a huge
success. The dedication was exceptional, and it was noted
that some of you took time off work, or used vacation time, and had
multiple family members volunteering. It was also great to
have the support from Don Stewart and his pool staff, who provided
everything we needed in a timely fashion. Both Garrett Elliott,
Sports Manager for Cowichan 2008 (NAIG), and Mike Flegel, Program
Director for Swim BC, were impressed by the professional standard
of our meet.
NAIG was the biggest sporting/cultural event in the history
of the Cowichan Valley, with people from a variety of
backgrounds working together to achieve a common goal.
As a community, we should be proud of what was accomplished….and
our efforts were well worth it, as witnessed by the jubilation and
pride in the faces of the athletes, coaches and
families/supporters.
The legacy left to our swim club from these games is, of
course, our new timing system, which we would not have had
otherwise. THANK YOU!
Please see attached for the invitation to the volunteer
celebration tonight.
